Collingwood Project
This is our most recently finished, large project. We worked with Callidus Architects to tranform this 93m2 home built in the 1930s. Starting off as a 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom dwelling, the family of four decided it was time to upsize. With extensions being done on the front to add an extra bedroom and enlarge the family bathroom down the side of the property. As well as a large extension to the back of the house to open up and increase the size of the kitchen, living and dining area. Inside, this home is like new, with original Rimu flooring sanded and recylced Rimu timber flooring in the new areas to match. All new carpet, light fittings, bathroom, kitchen, double glazed windows/doors. The interior boasts a perfect mixture between the character of a traditional villa with some modern updates. This family are happy to be living in their new and improved space that they call home. To see more photos, check out this project feature on a Trends online article.

Rakeiora Project
We had the priviledge of renovating this original Korokoro homestead known as 'Taumata' built in 1910. This villa boasts so much character and features a marae at the centre of the home. We updated the bathroom by removing the adjoining wall between the separate toilet and bathroom to make one large space. A custom built in shower was installed as well as all new bathroom fittings, tiles and lights. This new modern bathroom is a great addition to the family home, marrying the old character timber with contempoary finishes.

Newlands Project
The client contacted Mighty Build after seeing another large reclad on the same street being done by us. While looking at the job, we discovered some major problems with the current cladding. Due to the nature of this work the client had 2 options; repair only the affected areas, or reclad the whole house to bring his home up to the modern standard, giving him peace of mind that the property had greater longevity. The original home was clad in cedar panelling and monolithic plaster sheets, with single glazed joinery. The end result has given the client a much more modern home with weatherboard and schist detailing, including a full cavity system. Also new double glazed, thermally broken joinery and maximum R value insulation. An extended back outdoor area was added as well as a small extension to the dining area. Overall, this was a great result and the client was extremely happy with the outcome.

Korkoro Project
This client loved their views and location, however the original house layout and space was not adequate to their needs. Mighty Build were contacted to look at the job after the clients had a bad experience with another company beforehand. We completed a large renovation, extension and floor layout change to maximise the stunning views of Sommes Island throughout the whole house. The renovations have given the clients a brand new house on the inside and updated the outside exterior. The original house had old joinery, which was updated to double glazed pvc windows and doors, including German technology windows that opened inwards. One of the features of this renovation was maximising the ceiling height to 3m throughout and opening up the lounge, dining and kitchen as one continuous space. The client had lots of original ideas that we were able to bring to life, such as a bespoke butlers pantry and custom feature wall. The clients love their new home and know it will be a great space for their family.

Island Bay Project
This growing family needed more space but loved where they lived and didn’t want to move. We were able to turn their 2 bedroom house into a modern 3 bedroom home with a new office room and master bedroom including a walk in wardrobe and ensuite. This was done by adding an extension to the front of the property, changing the floor layout and opening up their kitchen, lounge and dining area. To do this we added a large steel beam in the ceiling to allow the spaces to be open plan and structurally sound. The exterior was fully reclad and included a new cavity system and thermally broken double glazed joinery. We updated the entrance way and fully rebuilt a large deck out the back, leading out from the lounge for great indoor/outdoor flow. The large deck also worked as a carport cover over the newly installed concrete pad for a second car space. The clients are looking forward to summers on the deck with their family taking in the view.
